Mall to showcase tradition and host interesting activities for families and children during Ramadan

Dubai, 27 August 2008: Al Ghurair City, the first shopping mall in the Middle East, will showcase Arabic traditions,  and host many interesting activities for families and children that will make shopping a wholesome experience this Ramadan.

To make the act of giving and caring during Ramadan more meaningful, Al Ghurair City has joined hands with the UAE Red Crescent to launch a Ramadan charity campaign. For every AED 200 that shoppers spend at the mall, Al Ghurair City will make a donation of AED 1 to the UAE Red Crescent.

Al Ghurair City will also run a promotion that will give shoppers spending AED 200 or more at Al Ghurair City the chance to drive away with two Mercedes ML 350 cars, and lay their hands on scratch-and-win shopping vouchers worth over AED 100,000. The grand raffle draws for the Mercedes ML 350 cars will be held on September 16 and October 5. The Al Ghurair City Ramadan promotion will be from September 1 to October 4.

Speaking on the mall’s Ramadan programme, Mukta Sabharwal, Manager, PR & Events, Al Ghurair City, said: “Being the first mall in the region, and a mall that has strong Arabic roots,  we strive to  provide our shoppers with a perfect blend of the old and the new. This Ramadan, shoppers will get the opportunity to learn about Arabic and local customs, and at the same time enjoy shopping for some of the most renowned brands in the world. We are also happy to partner with Red Crescent for a worthy cause, and at the same time make shopping at Al Ghurair City a rewarding experience”.

Ramadan will see Al Ghurair City abuzz with live Arabic performances. Children will have the good fortune to brush up on their folk history by attending story telling sessions every Thursday. One can revive one’s shopping excitement by lounging in the charming majlis specially set up for Ramadan, sip traditional coffee, or khawa and chew on dates that have become a symbol of Arab culture. Weekends will bring in a vibrant Radio Jockey from Al Arabiya FM who will mingle with shoppers and give away gift vouchers on Thursdays and Fridays.

Many world-class brands at Al Ghurair City are also giving away special deals and discounts, as part of their own initiatives to woo shoppers during Ramadan.
