Mall hosts exciting DSS event in coordination with Special Needs Families Support Group

Dubai, 22 June, 2008: Al Ghurair City, the first shopping mall in the Middle East and the premier family shopping destination, today announced fun-packed activities for children with special needs as part of its entertainment events during Dubai Summer Surprises 2008.

Al Ghurair City hosted an exciting event on June 22 in close coordination with the Special Needs Families Support Group (SNF), which provides support to families with special needs children in the UAE. Among the activities organised on the day included re-enactment of the renowned fairytale ballet ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and other popular children stories showcased at the mall under the ‘World of Stories’ series run during DSS.

Later, the children were offered a special treat at McDonald’s. The children were also showered with gifts from popular brands such as Baby Shop, Kids’ Way, Early Learning Centre and Giordano, who sponsored the event.

Mukta Sabharwal, Manager – PR & Events of Al Ghurair City, said: “We are proud to partner SNF for such a worthy cause. Al Ghurair City is a popular shopping destination for the entire family, and opening our doors to all children is very much in line with our core values. It gives us a lot of personal pleasure to take part in such a fun project, as it is part of our endeavour to support community activities dedicated to humanitarian initiatives.”

Established in 2003, SNF is a group of parents of special needs children to help the community to cope and provide constructive direction to the family members. Today, the SNF consists of over 150 families, providing occupational therapy, vocational training, computers and self-help skills for the children to become as independent as possible.
