Dubai, June 21st, 2007: In celebration of DSS 2007, Al Ghurair City, the first shopping mall in the Middle East, has unveiled yet another fun packed event for the whole family.
A unique event entitled “Heritage Surprises” will be the first of many activities taking place at Al Ghurair City. Heritage Surprises will feature at Al Ghurair shopping center from the 21st of June to the 27th of June. The event will highlight the U.A.E’s rich heritage.
A series of pantomimes based on Dubai’s historical legends handed down from generation to generation will be performed by the talented Al Aylah Group. The performances will take place daily from 4pm onwards and will captivate an audience of all ages and cultures.
Historically, the UAE was known as a sea faring nation and had previously been trading pearls in the region for thousands of years. For the first time, watch how authentic dhows were built.
Wonder through an extensive library and marvel at how much the UAE has changed. Original photographs highlight an era long gone but never forgotten.
Cuddle up with the family and enjoy mouth watering refreshments as you enjoy unique stories and legends that mirror the UAE cultural heritage.
Skilled weavers will also delight you with their expertise as they create bright and fabulous patterns out of individual threads.
Fancy flexing your creative muscle? Why not go down with the family and try your hand at a pottery workshop. Learn how to work the clay and design your very own piece, a must for all art and craft lovers.
Mr. Salem Al Ghurair, CEO of Al Ghurair City, said: “The Heritage Surprises is a wonderful way to highlight the diverse history and culture of the UAE. People will no doubt marvel at how much the country has developed in such a short period. The pottery workshop will be a wonderful way to spend the afternoon with the family. Stories, passed on from generation to generation will also be unique.”
